Leo Club St Vincent to launch new club next Tuesday

A new Leo Club will be launched next Tuesday, when 20 charter members celebrate the organization of their new Leo Club St Vincent South at the Lions Den, Enhams at 7 p.m. The Lions Club of St Vincent South is sponsoring the new club for young people, aged 18- 30.{{more}}

Attendees to the gala ceremony will include Second Vice District Governor – Lion Isaac Solomon MJF, Zone Chairman 3C – Lion Wendy La Barrie of Grenada, and Guest Speaker and Past Region Chair Lion Gloria Thomas of Grenada. Other invitees include Past Council Chair – Lion Beverly Reddock MJF, Past Council Secretary Lion Gillian John, Presidents of the Lions Club of Kingstown and Union Island and the Leo Club of Kingstown, parents of Leo Club members and representatives of the media.

Antoinette Browne, a proof clerk at the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines has been elected to serve as the first president of the new club, and Timora Peters, a junior clerk at the Inland Revenue Department will serve as the first club secretary. The Leo Club St Vincent South plans to become active in a number of activities, including the care of the elderly, reading and literacy programmes for students, among others.

President of Lions Club St Vincent South Ronald Christopher says: “We are excited to give back to our community. Through this important work, we plan to make a difference in our community.”

The Leo Club of St Vincent South will meet on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Den at Enhams. Lion Junior Bacchus is the Leo Club Advisor. Lions clubs sponsor more than 5,700 Leo clubs in 140 countries. While helping others in their community, Leos develop leadership skills and experience teamwork in action.

The Charter from Lions International will be presented to the Leo Club St Vincent South’s President Leo Antoinette Browne by the most senior Lion on island—Second Vice District Governor Lion Isaac Solomon MJF, while Zone 3C Chairman Lion Wendy La Barrie of Grenada will assist Lion Isaac with the induction and installation ceremonies.
