Sizzla, Popcaan, Destra headline Guinness Caribbean celebrations
Stout lovers across the Caribbean will be raising their glasses (or bottles as the case may be) to toast 253 years of Guinness greatness, during the upcoming annual Arthur Guinness Day celebrations.{{more}} Jamaica will kick off its official celebrations on September 27 at the National Indoor Sports Centre, under the theme âMade for Moreâ.
The Arthur Guinness Day Jamaica concert will see performances from popular acts such as one of the Guinness 50 Greatest Dancehall icons Sizzla, dancehall star Popcaan and Trinidadians Destra and Kerwin du Bois.
The St Vincent Guinness Day Celebration Concert will be held at Heritage Square on September 27, from 4:30 p.m. The celebrations would feature live streaming of the Guinness Jamaica concert and exciting revelry. In addition, the Guinness St Vincent team will add âmoreâ by providing live performances by 1st Lady, local dance groups, popular DJs and 2012 Calypso, Ragga Soca Monarch and Road March Champion Fya Empress. The massive crowd will also be treated to the much anticipated Guinness mixologist bar and Guinness food stalls.
Guinness lovers across the Caribbean region, including Trinidad, St Lucia and Antigua will also join in the âMade of Moreâ celebrations, in honour of the founding legend, Irish brewer Arthur Guinness.
Arthur Guinness Day globally marks another year to toast the Guinness legacy, representing a brand and its drinkers that are made of more, made to do more, and made for more greatness. It is held in recognition of the man who created the sacred world class beverage. The legacy, which started with one great man, continues to live through a great team and millions of loyal drinkers.
Before the invention of the light bulb or the telephone, men and women were enjoying Guinness. The legacy began in a little town in Ireland in the 1700s. The visionary behind the legacy, Arthur Guinness, started a brewery in 1755 with his entire £100 inheritance. Four years later he moved to the city to start his own business, resulting in what is today one of the biggest beer brands in the world.
