Past students donate equipment to Kingstown Anglican School

A group of past students of the Kingstown Anglican School this week provided their alma mater with much needed equipment, in memory of their father, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year.{{more}}

On Wednesday, the children of Cyril Frank presented a public address system and a photocopier machine to the school’s faculty, at the Anglican School Annex in Kingstown.

Five of six of Frank’s children: Lorna, Jean, Winston, Elliot, Lindsay, (the sixth, Alice, attended another primary school), attended the school in the late forties and early fifties.

The equipment was presented to the school by a family friend of the Frank’s, Kathleen Huggins.

“Mr Frank would have been 100 years old on the 11th of August 2012; that was one month ago yesterday,” Huggins informed the gathering at the school.

“His family, who now reside in Canada and the United States… got together and figured out what was the best way to remember their dad, and at the same time, give back something to their alma mater.”

Thanking Huggins for the gesture was head teacher Kenneth Burgin and president of the school’s Parent Teacher Association Ira Laborde Sandy.

“A heartfelt thank you to you, Mrs Huggins, and we hope that you extend this thanks to the Frank family, on behalf of the school for donating these pieces of equipment to the institution. They are things that the school has been aspiring to achieve over the years,” Burgin noted.

Sandy said the donation was an answer to her prayers, and that she was confident that there were more good things in store for the school.

Also present at the hand-over, was retired teacher Lorna Lewis, who taught the Frank children at the school.(JJ)
