The Board of Governors of the Intermediate High School (IHS) has announced the establishment of the Bertram “Timmy” Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund, designed to benefit past students of the Intermediate High School.

The late Bertram Richards was Principal of the IHS for many years. The purpose of the Fund is to offer financial assistance to two past students of the IHS enrolled at the SVG Community or Technical College or the University of the West Indies. The scholarship would be awarded bi-annually.

Secretary of the Board of Governors, Nicole Sylvester, says the scholarship award is a fitting tribute to Richards for the role he played in the development of education in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Mr Richards’ legacy lives on in the many graduates of the Intermediate High School who now hold their own in very prominent positions in the Vincentian society and the wider diaspora, and as such we are justly proud of the sound education received at the school,” she said.

The Bertram “Timmy” Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund will be officially launched on Thursday, with a Press Conference at the old Intermediate High School Building on James Street at 10 a.m.

It will be addressed by Chief Education Officer Lou-Anne Gilchrist; former IHS Principal and Board Member Hermia Scott; and Secretary to the Board Nicole Sylvester.
