Fuel surcharge rate down

The fuel surcharge rate has decreased, and this will be reflected on customers’ bills for August.{{more}}

A release from the St Vincent Electricity Services Ltd (VINLEC) said as a result of the reduction in the average cost of diesel fuel used in the generation of electricity during July, customers can expect to see a reduction of 4.69 cents per kilowatt-hour in the fuel surcharge rate on their bills for August. The fuel surcharge rate for August is 54.02 cents per unit and this reflects a reduction of 7.99 per cent on last month’s fuel surcharge rate of 58.71 cents.

In July, the cost of fuel to the company for the generation of electricity was $6.5 million, the release said.

VINLEC, in the release, encouraged its consumers to use energy wisely and to practise efficient measures to conserve this resource whenever possible.
