SVG to host fifth annual Caribbean Youth Entrepreneurship Conference

A local group addressing poverty, unemployment and underemployment among young people, especially the disadvantaged, will host the 5th Annual Caribbean Youth Entrepreneurship Conference here.{{more}}

Youth Business St Vincent and the Grenadines (YBSVG), in collaboration with the Caribbean Centre of Excellence for Youth Entrepreneurship, will host the conference from September 12 to 15.

During the conference, entrepreneurs, aspiring young entrepreneurs, representatives of other youth business initiatives from across the Caribbean, along with stakeholders and specialist in agriculture, and government officials, will explore the theme “Youth Entrepreneurship — The Catalyst for a Sustainable Caribbean Economic Take-off”.

Delegates will examine the current economic situation within the Caribbean and ways to stimulate and maintain sustainable economic take-off in the region.

The conference, at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown, will also focus on agriculture as a key component in the development of a strategic economic plan for the Caribbean economic development.

Kenrick Quashie, managing director of the newly formed YBSVG, said the group recognizes that youth entrepreneurship has an important role to play in the development of the local economy and that of the Caribbean.
