This year’s exchange programme will follow two previous successful cases in 2010 and 2011 and it may well be a new summer trend in Kingstown.

Besides musical and dance exchanges, Taiwan Youth Ambassadors will for the first time introduce unique performances of “Songjiang Battle Array and Guan Jiang Shou Parade Formation” in Taiwanese temple festivals to the local students.

There also will be an open exhibition of the folk arts in the Opening Ceremony of the exchange programme on Monday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m., at the Methodist Church Hall.

The Taiwan Youth Ambassador delegation consists of 6 undergraduate students from Southern Taiwan University, led by Assistant Professor Dr Su-ying Hsu. These students are very talented artists and prepared to share their knowledge and expertise in music, dances and folk arts with their counterparts in Community College. Without doubt, the exchange programme will surely be full of fun and education for both Vincentian and Taiwanese youth.

The International Youth Ambassadors exchange programme is sponsored by the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the programme is designed to enable Taiwanese students to understand the people and culture of allied nations. It also allows the students of receiving nations the opportunity to view Taiwanese culture and arts.
