New York Times recognizes SVG for best written newspaper journal

St Vincent and the Grenadines has received recognition from the New York Times for the best written newspaper journal.{{more}}

Minister of Tourism Cecil Mckie, during a press conference on Monday, June 18, stated that St Vincent and the Grenadines was featured in the New York Times.

Mckie, giving an update on his participation at the Caribbean Tourism Organization week in New York, stated that the journal, written by Journalist Jeremy Peters, was judged as the best newspaper journal.

The entry specifically featured Bequia and the Grenadines.

“We were very happy to have received that award on behalf of the journalist from USA Jeremy Peters,” Mckie said.

Mckie stated that St Vincent and the Grenadines was also recognized by USA Today as one of the top ten in the Ten Happening Destination for Summer 2012.

Also giving remarks during the press conference, CEO of the Tourism Authority Glen Beache stated that the National Geographic has done a twelve-page story on St Vincent and the Grenadines, which can be viewed online.

He added that the travel channel is currently on the island, shooting a programme and personnel from the House Hunters International from the Network Home and Garden Television (HGTV) will be filming in Bequia on Thursday.(OS)
