Chairperson of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations René Baptiste gave an outline of the purpose of the Trust, her role as the Country Representative of the Trust and six areas of investment of the Trust.

At the Opening, 12 individuals, including the Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne and Jubilee Celebrations Chairperson René Baptiste, five National Associations and three business enterprises, signed their names in the Contribution Book and made a monetary donation.

A release from the Trust says its Country Representative René Baptiste will be sending out more letters of invitation to various groups, organizations and associations, as well as commercial enterprises over the next few weeks, urging them to make a contribution.

According to the release, monies raised by the Trust will be invested in six areas – marking the six Decades of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty, which would spread benefits across the Commonwealth to Youth Sport leaders; the Elderly; the Disabled; Culture and Heritage; Community Leaders and Urban Food. The Trust has a life-span of five years and then the funds will be distributed.

The names of all the contributors will feature in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Roll of Thanks, which will be presented to Her Majesty and then stored in the Archives at Windsor Castle. The Book closes on December 31, 2012.
