Lesley Howard-Bowman recently assumed the position of Personal Banking Manager. A veteran banker of 26 year’s experience, she started her career on leaving St Joseph’s Convent. She spent most of her banking life in retail banking, except for a 14-month stint as Assistant Manager Small Business, prior to this promotion.

Scotiabank Country Manager Basil Alexander lauded Howard-Bowman’s accomplishment, stating: “Lesley’s hard work, dedication and commitment over the years have earned her a place in our history as the first female to hold this position. Her appointment is also a continuing reflection of Scotiabank’s global commitment to the advancement of women in the workplace.”

Syran Clarke and Eugenia Thomas are the other management appointees. Clarke is now Commercial Banking Manager, filling the post left vacant by his predecessor, Vivian Chamas.

Clarke received his formal education in England, having been born there to Vincentian parents. Upon graduating Reading College, he completed his ACCA certification. His multisectoral experience prior to joining Scotiabank in 2010 includes stints as senior commercial analyst at Virgin Media and regional financial controller – Scotland for Lafarge UK. Clarke is actively involved in his community through sporting and charitable organizations, including the HOPE Foundation.

Thomas, meantime, takes over the role of Manager, Service and Support and joins the St Vincent and Grenadines team from her native Anguilla. She brings 19 years’ banking experience, having joined Scotiabank Anguilla in 1993 as a teller.

Over time, she served in increasingly senior positions, primarily in operations and accounting support areas, where she acquired significant experience. In her previous position, she served as Assistant Manager Operations and Service. That experience, along with ongoing management training, is anticipated to assist greatly in ensuring customers are well served.

An avid sportsperson, Thomas represented her home country in national and regional leagues in track and field, volleyball and windball cricket.
