Officials to discuss services sector development and implications for SVG on trade and investment negotiations

A workshop on Services Trade Negotiations will be held this week.

The workshop on Services Trade Negotiations is being held under the auspices of a Services Trade project for St Vincent and the Grenadines,{{more}} and is being convened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Consumer Affairs, in conjunction with Enabling Environments Ltd.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday and Thursday this week at the National Insurance Services Conference Room in Kingstown.

The workshop will be formally opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Consumer Affairs Douglas Slater.

It will bring together officials from various ministries, agencies and other private sector stakeholders to consider the implications for St Vincent and the Grenadines of negotiations on services trade and investment issues in the World Trade Organization and in Canada-CARICOM discussions. The workshop will also examine various policy options for services sector development with regard to specific targeted sectors such as: creative industries; information and communication technology (ICT); spas/wellness; and professional services.

The workshop is made possible with the support of the European Union and is funded by the ACP-MTS Programme in Brussels. The facilitators for the workshop are Brussels and Geneva-based consultants from Enabling Environments Ltd.
