Vice President of the Girlsâ High School Young Leaders Angelique Fitzpatrick told SEARCHLIGHT that the idea to equip the school with fire extinguishers was in an effort to assist with disaster planning.
Fitzpatrick explained that the Young Leaders had a symposium which discussed disaster planning; the installation of fire extinguishers to reduce the impact of fires was also discussed. The fire extinguishers will be placed in the laboratories and staff room at the school.
Communications Officer at VINLEC Tamara Job-Sprott, addressing the students, congratulated the Young Leaders on their project and also encouraged the students to continue with their energy conservation practices.
The Young Leadersâ theme for the 2011/2012 project is âOur World, Our Climate, Our Problem, Our Solution.â
The students were also addressed by past Miss SVG contestants Laferne Fraser and Javorne Williams, and Miss SVG 2012 contestants, Miss Lotto Shanique Browne, Miss Lime Carice Glasgow and Miss Jergens Aziza Williams. The contestants encouraged the students to continue to excel in school, while they spoke about their experience as past students of the institution.
