Shortly after he arrived at the E.T. Joshua Airport from Barbados on Wednesday, he said, “I am feeling good!”

“I know that the public is concerned about my wellness and I have to report that I am feeling good,” Gonsalves told reporters and other gathered at the airport’s VIP lounge.

Gonsalves, accompanied by his wife Eloise, was greeted at the E.T. Joshua airport by Deputy Prime Minister Girlyn Miguel, other members of Cabinet, Commissioner of Police Keith Miller and other well-wishers.

Gonsalves, 65, returned to the state after spending two weeks in Barbados, with some of that time being spent at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

While en route to the Middle East on Wednesday, April 18, the Prime Minister complained of feeling unwell during his stopover in Barbados.

According the Gonsalves, he then had to seek medical attention, and was treated for an abscess.

“All told, I was well cared for and I want to thank the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines for all their messages of comfort and I want to thank them for their prayers,” he said.

The Prime Minister also conveyed special thanks to the Acting Prime Minister for her “excellent stewardship” and also his Cabinet colleagues for their “sterling assistance to the Acting Prime Minister and public servants.”

Despite being unwell, Dr. Gonsalves disclosed that he kept in touch with his Cabinet members on a number of important issues facing the country as well as on the regional scene.

“While I was there, in addition to national matters, there were some regional issues that we were working on [by] phone, including the Chris Gayle saga,” he added.

With a huge grin, Gonsalves said he had heard rumours which had been circulated about his health.

“I’d heard that some were saying I had a heart attack. Just for the record, my heart is in good condition.

“I also heard that I had a prostate cancer and I want again to report that my prostate is in order. Both the PSA and the density; everything is in order,” said Gonsalves.
