The work, which is being funded by Furniture and Appliance giant Courts St Vincent Limited as part of its community initiative project, is on schedule, and the library is expected to be opened soon.
The building, located in Chilli Village, will replace the library that was closed in 2005, and will serve Georgetown and its environs.
So far, the building has been tiled, the bathroom repaired, the main area fitted with an air conditioning unit, and the interior painted.
A major part of the exterior is left to be painted, and the yard is to be grassed.
The building will then be furnished with shelves, a desktop computer, and of course, books.
Work is being done by members of the community, as well as staff of Courts.
Marketing Officer of Courts Alexis John said that he is very pleased with the progress, and looks forward to the libraryâs completion.
âWe at Courts are excited with this project, which we know will benefit the entire community and surroundings.
âWe look forward to bringing educational value to the area and others, as this is the first of many projects we hope to embark on in the near future.â
