Firefly’s Chef off to ‘Taste of the Caribbean’ Food Festival in Jamaica

Firefly’s Chef ‘Elisa Trousant’ has been selected to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Jamaica ‘Taste of the Caribbean’ Food Festival this weekend.{{more}}

She will fly to Jamaica today, Friday, April 27 for a two-day event in which she and other top chefs from the region have been invited to show their cookery skills.

Elisa has only been working as a chef at the famous Firefly Hotel in Mustique for just over a year, but she has already worked her way up from being a dish washer to second chef and currently cooks for Firefly’s many celebrity guests and royal visitors.

Elisa had no formal training before joining Firefly, but her enthusiasm for cooking and desire to learn was quickly recognized and so she was trained in-house by Firefly, where she has met some of the world’s top chefs and exchanged recipes with them.

A release from Firefly said, “We are all very proud of this big achievement for her and that she is representing the islands at such a prestigious event.”
