The author, who would be launching her fifth publication “Thelma Bismark (The Go Getter)” this weekend, says that students here would learn a lot of local history, and be encouraged to plan their future, with assistance of her books.

“I am hoping that the education department would be able to use these books… for third and fourth year children in secondary schools. I think they could benefit tremendously.

“Apart from Leroy (which was based in Grenada and the United Kingdom), they are all based locally.”

Andrews, a retired school teacher, who was born in Tobago, married a Vincentian, and spent most of her life in the United Kingdom, spoke to SEARCHLIGHT about her latest novel.

She said that there is something for everyone in her book, which deals with topical issues that are faced daily.

“It is a book about a girl of mixed race who sets out to achieve her goals. She comes up against domestic violence, bad parenting and all sorts of things that confronted her, but she was single-minded, and she knew where she wanted to go.

“It is a book for everybody. I would like every parent; every boy and every girl; especially young persons who hadn’t decided what they want to be when they grow up.”

The Queen’s Drive resident said that “Thelma Bismark (The Go Getter)” joins the ranks of her previous publications Leroy, Sydney and Fanny, and Beryl (part 1 and 2), as literary pieces would stand the test of time.

The book will be officially launched on Sunday, at the Youth Development Center of the Mount Moriah Seventh Day Adventist Church at 3:00 p.m.
