The eight are Jolene Bentick (Miss Super 6); Shanique Browne (Miss Lotto); Terranza Franklyn (Miss Mustique Co. Ltd.); Carice Glasgow (Miss LIME); Kendra Homer (Miss Agricultural Input Warehouse); Jovonne John (Miss St Vincent Brewery); Dieta Tucker (Miss Metrocint General Insurance Company Ltd) and Aziza Williams (Miss Jergens).

They will compete for the coveted title of Miss SVG 2012, a university scholarship and a cash prize.

The winner will also be given the opportunity to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Miss Carival pageant scheduled to be held on July 6.

The final eight were selected in January from a pool of 16 girls who were part of an interview and training process which began in August, 2011 Cheryl Rodriguez, Chairman of the Beauty Shows Committee explained.

According to Rodriguez, two new requirements have been added this year – contestants are required to join a gym and training from Toastmasters International has been arranged to take place every Saturday leading up to the pageant.

On Saturday, April 21, the contestants will take part in a pre-show Rodriguez said where they will be required to appear in swimwear, perform their talent and answer two questions.

“This is in an effort to judge the readiness of contestants for the big stage. Comments will be given by the audience which will comprise the Board of the Carnival Development Corporation and Beauty Shows Committee,” she continued.

Rodriguez said that her committee promised to maintain a high quality show and to bring a production with a difference.

The show will be held on Saturday, June 2 at the Victoria Park. (DD)
