Church donates to Technical Institute

Staff and students of the Kingstown Technical Institute were this week on the receiving end of a Food Initiative Grant from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.{{more}}

On Wednesday April 18, members of the church handed over equipment to the tune of EC $5,600, for use in the home economics department.

The items, which include a microwave oven, knives, mixers and other cooking and baking utensils, were presented by Brother Bennie Lilly, the Area Welfare Director, to Michelle Guy, Home Economics Director at the Institute.

The Grant is part of a St. Vincent Food Initiative, which encourages self reliance through proper nutrition.

Other aspects of the project include improved gardening, and the raising of layer chicken.(JJ)
