The workshop, dubbed “What’s that you have in your hand?”, took place on April 10, 2012, at the National Public Library Conference Room.

Pastor and Executive Director of the ministry Ashley John told SEARCHLIGHT that the workshop will help young people recognize what talents they have and how these talents and gifts can be developed and how they can even help persons to become self employed. The workshop is specifically targeted toward young, unemployed people, but any interested persons can attend, John said.

John explained that persons may often have ideas about what to do with their gifts, but are at a loss as to how to use their gifts to achieve their goals. This is where the Reach out and Touch Ministries will come in. He stated that the workshop will outline a step by step approach on how to develop gifts, talents, and ideas of young people.

The first step, John stated, is a self assessment, in which participants will asses their talents. The second step will allow participants to specifically describe their goals and dreams and decide what they want to do with their lives. In the third step, participants are taught how to manage, and how to turn their dreams into reality.

John stated that the workshop will be practical and persons will receive guidance in terms of starting a business through a mentorship programme.

The workshop is free, though John states that they will accept donations from participants. He added that space is also limited and persons should indicate their interest in the workshop by calling (784) 491-0873 or (784) 431-1770 or by emailing
