There is something to be said for the tradition of Girl Guide Companies and Camping during the Easter Vacation. Some companies go overseas and others camp all over the country.{{more}}

This Easter, one of the young companies based at the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown #28 held a weekend Camp at the Guide Headquarters which saw them involved in three full days of Camping under Canvas.

Mornings began at 6:00 with exercises, chores, and on Saturday a Challenge was organized, which took them through Kingstown on a trek of riddle solving and path finding.

On evenings, Campfires and Songs mixed messages of leadership and making positive decisions, with fun and laughter. The girls also benefited from sessions on Leadership and Striving for Excellence in Guiding. These Sessions were done by Company Guiders Jeannette France, Oneka Morgan and Vynnette Frederick, along with Dornet Hull.

At the end of the weekend, the closing ceremony saw awards being presented to all the participants, with special awards of excellence going to Kylah Thomas and Shemeil Isaacs and Challenge winners the Jesters Patrol.

Brownies Paige Cadogan, Nikalette Hadaway and Aliaah Moses also participated and were credited for their performance throughout. Guiding continues to provide positive activities and development opportunities for our nation’s young women.
