Lynch off to the USA for eye treatment

Elwardo ‘E.G’ Lynch left the state on Tuesday, April 3, for the United States, where he is expected to receive medical treatment for failing eyesight.{{more}}

Leader of the Opposition Arnhim Eustace made the announcement during a press briefing on Tuesday.

“We wish him well and hope that he returns with better vision,” Eustace said.

An appeal for assistance was made earlier this year after a decision had been made for the former controversial talk show radio host to seek medical attention abroad.

Lynch was seeking assistance in Barbados, but had made a decision to go further, after saying the doctors had “reached a stone wall.”

Amidst rumours that the New Democratic Party had abandoned Lynch, Eustace announced that the party had made an appeal for him.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves during a press conference held on March 5, 2012, said that Lynch had in fact been cast aside by his party since falling ill with his eyes, following many years of service.

“Lynch is finished. They discard him; put him on the dung heal, the refuse heap. How could you treat people like that?” the Prime Minister queried.

But Eustace responded the following day, March 6, saying that the allegation was false and that accounts had been established in the US, Canada and in St Vincent and the Grenadines and that the party had been calling for people to make contributions.

“All of his expenses in Barbados, we cleared all those already,” Eustace said.

He did say, however, that there were some issues in trying to obtain a United States visa for Lynch, a matter that they were making efforts to resolve.(DD)
