61-year-old Georgetown man robbed and stabbed

McCartney Forbes is terrified to see what has happened to his 61-year-old father Charles Forbes, who was attacked during the early hours of the morning of Sunday, April 1, at his home in Langley Park.{{more}}

Forbes told SEARCHLIGHT that unknown assailant(s) forced their way into his father’s bedroom and attacked the businessman while he slept.

The attack occurred some time around 3:30 Sunday morning, Forbes said.

Forbes said his father was stabbed numerous times about the head and once in his back, which resulted in the elderly man having to receive 30 stitches about his head and four on his back.

He told SEARCHLIGHT that the assailant(s) got away with US$300 and EC$400, and two cellular phones belonging to his father.

No items of jewelry or other electronic devices were stolen, however.

He explained that his father lives in the house with his girlfriend and her three children, but that she was sleeping in another bedroom the night of the attack and robbery.

Forbes said that he is in complete shock and he never thought something like this could have happened to his father.

Charles Forbes lived and worked in the United States for about 30 years, but returned home in 2004 and, according to his son, would make regular visits to the US and was expected to travel this coming Sunday, April 8.

The man said that he is seeking justice on his father’s behalf.

“I would like justice for my dad, and I would like for the perpetrator(s) to receive the maximum penalty when they are caught,” McCartney Forbes told SEARCHLIGHT.

He said that while there have been at least two attempts to break into his own home and business place, this was the first such attack on his father’s private property.

Forbes said that he feels a bit anxious and wants the person(s) responsible for this to be found.

The matter is being investigated by the Georgetown Police.(DD)
