Church of God of Prophecy holds its 3rd Biennial District Convention

“Moving Forward with the Power of God – overcoming every obstacle”. That was the theme under which the Church of God of Prophecy – St Vincent held its 3rd Biennial District Convention.{{more}}

From February 24 to 26, 2012, delegates from seven local congregations (Belair, Biabou, Colonaire, Kingstown, Peruvian Vale, Richland Park and Victoria Village) assembled at the Shekinah Worship Centre/ The Greens, Kingstown to fellowship, re-commit themselves and to unveil plans for the next two years.

The convention heard addresses from Bishop Edward C. Payne (District Overseer – Barbados and the Windward Islands), urging delegates to “forge forward amidst trying circumstances”. He also remarked that “our view of the church has to be changed and challenged, for if we continue to look though the same lens, then we will never accomplish anything further”. Bishop Henry A. Davy (District Overseer – St Vincent) admonished delegates to “Strengthen and renew their vertical relationship”.

Delegates also heard brief remarks from Minister of Ecclesiastical Affairs – Maxwell Charles. Charles admonished delegates that moving forward requires trusting God when they cannot see how he is working; building their faith daily, and in a time when much emphasis is placed on logic rather than theology, that they must continue to uphold the standards of the Bible.

With sub-themes such:- moving forward… with a positive attitude in prayer; the power and might of the anointing; equipping of the saints for duty and the spirit of forgiveness, delegates left the convention with a renewed hope that, regardless of the challenges that lie ahead, the Church of God of Prophecy – St Vincent is without a doubt – moving forward.
