On Monday, March 12, the TCMP presented 15 life jackets to students of that community who are attending secondary school on Union Island. Since January this year, these students have been traveling on a daily basis to and from Union Island to obtain secondary education.

Parents, concerned about their children’s safety, having to cross the rough seas daily, wrote to the TCMP requesting assistance to purchase life jackets and the TCMP duly granted their request.

Speaking to the children at the handing over of the life jackets Manager of the TCMP Kenneth Williams commended the children for their bravery and reiterated TCMP’s commitment to the students of Mayreau. Williams pleaded with the students to take proper care of the jackets and to use them at all times when travelling at sea.

One of the concerned parents, Anita Wilson, sincerely thanked the TCMP for its prompt response and its assistance. She also asked the children to ensure that the jackets are used solely for its intended purpose.

The jackets cost the TCMP just over EC$1000. Ross Lulley and Sons must also be commended for supplying the jackets at a discounted rate.
