The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross Society (SVGRCS) is proud to once again be able to make a significant contribution to improving the lives of several Vincentian families.{{more}}
This contribution was made in the form of food packages, which included basic food and non-food items. The beneficiaries included persons who are physically and mentally challenged and the elderly considered to be less fortunate. Persons occupying shelters were also direct recipients of assistance under the auspices of the Thomas Browne Promotions- âSoca Relief Showâ
The distribution of supplies was done on Saturday, February 4, and Sunday, February 5, in the villages of Chateuabelair, Rose Hall, Barrouallie, Coulls Hill, Campden Park, Murrays Village, Kingstown Park, Redemption Sharps, Park Hill, South Rivers, Byrea, Georgetown, Basin Hole.
Ruby George-Chambers, Red Cross coordinator of the programme, expressed satisfaction with the work of her committee over the past ten years in dealing with humanitarian relief. She was particularly pleased that over the weekend 50 packages were distributed.
She thanked the Republic of China on Taiwan, Promoters of CanFest 2011, Agricultural Input Warehouse, Simplicity House- Mustique, and Mrs. Wilson of Mustique for making donations.
The Red Cross Society will continue this Humanitarian Relief outreach with the help of corporate and individual donors to assist and alleviate suffering to the most vulnerable communities of SVG.
