New Alumni President: It’s an honour to give back to Taiwan
The St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Taiwan ICDF Alumni Society has a new president.{{more}}
Through a unanimous decision made on Wednesday January 18, Tasheka Haynes was elected as new president of the organization.
Haynesâ election came as part of the Societyâs annual meeting held at the Knowledge Institute and Conference Centre, Kingstown, during which a new executive body was elected.
During the luncheon meeting, Haynes and the rest of the new executive were selected from a room of an estimated thirty members of the SVG Taiwan ICDF Alumni Society.
The other members of the new executive include Cuthbert Knights (Vice President), Collin Bonadie (Treasurer), Jacquie English (Secretary) and Rochelle Baptiste (Public Relations Officer).
Surprised to be elected as the new head of the organization, Haynes told SEARCHLIGHT âItâs an honour to give back to Taiwan.â
She explained that she obtained Masters degree in Agricultural Economics at the National Taiwan University.
The 2010 graduate, who is currently attached to the Ministry of Health explained her plans for the organization.
âFor one Iâd like to see more activities taking place. The previous committee didnât really do that, but we hope to pick up from where they left offâ¦â she said.
Some of the activities outlined by the new president include career building programs, motivational speeches, workshops and cultural exchange.
Wednesdayâs luncheon was held under the auspices of Taiwanâs Ambassador to St Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Weber Shih.(AA)
