On Monday, January 16, teacher at the School and Peace Corps Volunteer Reiko Jones collected from Digicelâs Country Manager Sonia Polius, 20 headsets to be used at the school.
Jones said that the school uses computer literacy software called the âAcademy of Readingâ and the headsets are a complement to the software.
She added that the headsets will allow the students to listen to sounds and words and learn phonics which will help them to read words. Jones said that the headsets will also allow the students to communicate with the computers and, therefore, get help with the pronunciation of certain words.
âI would like to thank Digicel for their continued support and assistance to the literacy programmeâ, said Jones.
The Literacy Department is headed by Sherene Wilkinson.
Marketing Executive Justin John said that Digicel is always glad to assist the nationâs students. He added that the company will be looking at other ways in which they can help with the literacy initiative at the school.
