Member of British Royal family to visit SVG this year

A member of the British Royal family is expected to pay a visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines early this year.{{more}}

This announcement was made by Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne on Monday, as he delivered the Throne Speech at the opening of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament.

Sir Frederick said 2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the throne.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines and other Commonwealth countries which have Her Majesty as Head of State will be commemorating this Diamond Jubilee with a series of activities.

The vist by the member of the Royal Family will be part of the local activities.

All relevant announcements will be made shortly, Sir Frederick, who is the Queen’s repesentative, said.
