R.O.K hails LIME CanFest successful

With over 50,000 cans of food counted so far, R.O.K Entertainment is once again hailing their annual LIME CanFest show as a success.{{more}}

Held on December 23, 2011, at Victoria Park, the show, now in its fifth year, saw Jamaican dancehall artiste Jah-Vinci put on a great show for a mammoth crowd at the park.

CanFest is a concert designed to raise awareness and mobilize national support for charitable organizations that cater to the needs of the many less fortunate people within our society.

Each year, patrons are asked to donate three cans of food to gain entrance to the event, which is now a household name.

Kenton Ollivierre of R.O.K said over the past week they have been busy donating food items to the various charities throughout the country. Some of these include: The St Benedict’s Day Nursery, The Salvation Army, House of Hope, National Society of the blind, National Society of the disabled, Red Cross, Svg Plus, Mental Health Centre, Lewis Punnet Home, Mt Coke Methodist Church and the Methodist meals on wheels.

Ollivierre thanked sponsors LIME, O.T. Factory Outlet, Aquatic Club, Ad Pro, Campari and St Vincent Brewery.

Now that CanFest is over, Olivierre told SEARCHLIGHT R.O.K. will now focus on building the CanFest Foundation.

“This is what we are working on right about now along with LIME. We are trying to get several projects off the ground and assist people in any way we can,” Olivierre said.

A number of local acts also entertained the large crowd, including, Skinny Fabulous, Madzaart, Prez, Ruffy, among others.(KW)
