JEMS forms group in New York
A new Vincentian Organisation has been formed in New York.{{more}}
The name of the Organisation is JEMS New York, and it will operate as a sister oganisation to JEMS St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and has as its motto âHOPE 4 HOMEâ. JEMS New York is a not for profit organisation which was formed in April of 2011.
At a meeting held on Sunday, December 4, 2011, a seven-member executive was elected to head the affairs of JEMS New York for the next year.
The Executive is headed by founder Carol Simmons as President, Vice President Claudette Haynes, Secretary Barbara Grant, Treasurer Zaneth Simmons, with its Public Relations Officer being Sally-Ann Cuffy.
Two Committee Members were also elected. They are Cuthbert Antoine and Carmaleta Garraway.
Two additional persons were appointed to the positions of Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer. They are Roxanne Ballantyne and Shaneth Simmons.
The group has undertaken a distribution of food baskets to needy families in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as its first its venture. This joint effort with JEMS SVG with the kind assistance of Standard Shippers INC out of New York which shipped the supplies gratis.
