Police Band to stage another series of Christmas Concerts
Band Master of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Band, Station Sargeant Bernard Haynes, is inviting the general public to come out and celebrate Christmas{{more}} with the band this year, as they stage another Christmas Concert series.
Haynes said the band will hold concerts in the major towns across St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The first concert was held in Fancy on December 1, 2011, and the final one for the year will be held on Palm Island on December 23, 2011.
Haynes said that this is the first time the band will be going to Palm Island, adding that they will also be going back to Union Island, a trip they havenât made in four to five years.
The Band will be at the National Nine Mornings Launch on December 4, 2011, and will also make an appearance at the Lewis Punnett Home and the Mental Health Centre. There will be a Police Caroling Contest on December 16.
Haynes stated that the police band will also be collaborating with local steel bands across the country. He added that they will, for the first time, be incorporating Gospel Music into their repertoire.
He added that members of the public are also invited to take part in the concerts and members of the general public attending the concerts will be given an opportunity to render songs or other appropriate items. He, however, stated that groups or persons wishing to be a part of the programme on any concert can contact the Police Band Room at 457-1211 ext. 251.
Haynes, stating that he hopes to see a greater turn out from the public at this yearâs series of concerts, also wished the general public a Merry Christmas on behalf of the band.(OS)
