Ventura, Mein Schiff cruise ships visit Port Kingstown

Port Kingstown was visited on Thursday, November 17 by the Ventura cruise ship (Corea and Co (1988) Ltd) with 3,026 passengers onboard. The ship arrived at 8:00 am and set sail at 6:00 pm the same day.{{more}}

According to a release from the Ministry of Tourism, a British passenger who took a tour of Kingstown stated that his visit was an enjoyable one and that he would visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines again.

Earlier this year, Minister of Tourism and Industry Saboto Caesar attended the 18th Annual Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Conference and Trade Show in Puerto Rico, where more than 1000 cruise industry partners came together with 100 Cruise Executives from the FCCA Member Lines to share ideas and discuss industry trends.

While at the Trade Show, Caesar had consultations with The Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines who pledged to give technical assistance in order for St. Vincent and the Grenadines to have a better planned, structured and conceived cruise product.

Caesar is optimistic that St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a destination will be able to achieve significant growth in the medium to long term, once the relationship between the private and the public sector continues to positively evolve.

In the medium term, the Minister noted that the strategy for the cruise sub-sector is for it to play a more significant role in the diversified tourism product that the country is building.

An inaugural visit by the Mein Schiff cruise ship (TUI Cruises) was paid to St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
