Woodley receives distinguished award from Toastmasters International

Toastmaster Monica Thomas Woodley has been awarded the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) designation.{{more}}

On October 22, 2011, Toastmasters International 87th Anniversary, Thomas received the award, which is the highest possible achievement that any Toastmaster in this world-wide organization can attain.

The requirements for this Award include making a wide variety of speeches, which are evaluated; performing leadership roles and functions; mentoring and coaching members; sponsoring and mentoring new clubs; working on the District Executive; conducting community activities.

DTM Woodley was the President of the first Toastmaster Club in St. Vincent and the Grenadines – the Achievers Toastmasters Club in 2006. She was instrumental in the formation of the second Club, Imperial Champions Club, in 2008; and the newest Club, Mustique Professionals in Mustique, in 2011. In October 2010, she was the Chair of the highly successful District Conference held in St. Vincent.

DTM Woodley is a current member of The Imperial Champions Toastmasters Club. This Club claimed other SVG firsts in 2009, when Toastmaster Anika Stapleton was the first Vincentian to win the District International Speech Contest. Toastmaster Stapleton then went on to be the first Regional Toastmaster to contest the World Speech Championship in Connecticut, USA. She placed second in her semi-final to the eventual World Champion.

DTM Woodley credits her achievements to the discipline of the Toastmasters International organization, and adherence to its core values of integrity, excellence, respect and service. She expresses gratitude for the support, encouragement and camaraderie of fellow Toastmasters in SVG and the Caribbean region. In all things she gives praise and thanks to the Almighty God.
