Missing girl’s sister believes she’s still alive

Although her sister Ikeisha has been missing for over a month, Mesha Quammie believes that she is still alive.{{more}}

The fact that the decomposed body of a female was found in the Welcome area on Sunday, October 30, has not discouraged the mother of three, as she continues to search for her 13-year-old sibling who left home on September 19 this year.

“I don’t have the feeling is her. If it was her I would know.”

The elder Quammie told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday that she had just returned from the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where she had delivered her first son, and is yet to hear from the police who are investigating her sister’s disappearance.

She said that she is still at a loss as to where Ikeisha, a student of the West St. George Secondary school, could be.

She has not turned up for school since.

She admitted that on previous occasions, Ikeisha had left her Belmont home, and fled to Diamonds, where she has other relatives and friends; but no one has seen or heard of her in that village since September.

Mesha indicated that she is still optimistic that Ikeisha will turn up someday alive and well.

“I am not sure where she is, but I am hoping she would return home.”

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police at the Calliaqua Police Station Carlos Sampson indicated that investigations are ongoing surrounding Ikeisha’s disappearance.

In an interview yesterday, Sampson said Ikeisha is known to be a chronic runaway, who was last seen in the Largo Heights area.

“We are still pursuing all leads and are appealing to persons who may have information to come forward and give us this information.”(JJ)
