Leo Club assists SVG needy

The Leo Club St. Vincent continues to fulfill its motto ‘We Serve’ by giving assistance to those in need.{{more}}

As part of the nation’s 32nd anniversary of Independence, members displayed their patriotism and philanthropy by conducting several donations on Saturday, October 22, 2011.

The first donation was made to the National Public Library where 131 books were donated. This was followed by the donation of a voucher valued at $510.00 to Semerrimiss Maule of Mt. Pleasant, whose home is in need of repairs. This donation was made possible with the support of General Hardware Supplies Ltd in Arnos Vale. The third donation was a supply of kitchen utensils donated to Patrina Williams of Chateaubelair, whose home was completely destroyed by fire in August, 2011.

During the first half of the Lionistic year, several other donations were conducted. On July 15, 2011, the club donated $500.00 to Tamal Brackin of Sandy Bay to help assist in getting a CT scan done in Grenada. Two-year-old Tamal was involved in a vehicular accident in Georgetown, where he was thrown out of the window of a mini bus in June. On July 23, 2011, a gift basket of food items was donated to Culette Anthony and family of Vermont. On July 30, 2011, the club journeyed to Georgetown where a wheel chair was donated to an elderly diabetic Ruth Harper. This donation was necessary as her left leg was amputated and she was unable to move without assistance.

The Leo Club St. Vincent, as a voluntary youth-based service organisation, is dependent on the assistance and contributions made by businesses and the general public. The Club wishes to thank all for their continued support as through these efforts more persons within our nation are able to benefit.
