Apostolic Faith Mission dominates Bible Festival 2011

The Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia, proved once again that they are the dominant force when it comes to Bible Festivals in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.{{more}}

Supported by a large contingent of supporters, the church ran away with the title in the third annual SVG Independence Bible Festival 2011, recording a stunning ‘three-peat’ in the process.

The final night of the two-week competition, held at the Faith Temple Church in New Montrose on Sunday, October 16, saw some five churches participating in six rounds of Bible quizzes. These included: Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia; Faith Temple Church; Pillar of Truth Ministry; Vermont Miracle Tabernacle; and the Wesleyan Holiness Church, Georgetown.

These churches advanced from the preliminary round of the festival. For the final, the participants were quizzed on the following areas: General Knowledge; Women in the Bible; Finish this verse; Name that Place; Bible Study – the book of James; An encounter with Jesus.

At the end of the night, the Apostolic Faith Mission strongly defended the title they first won when the festival was inaugurated in 2009. The final results showed: Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia – 154 points; Wesleyan Holiness Church, Georgetown – 79 points; Faith Temple Church – 61 points.

Other results announced on the night showed Shirlon Ragguette of the Apostolic Faith Mission, Bequia, winning two awards as the Most Outstanding Participant and Most Outstanding Quizzer; Ava Patrick of the Wesleyan Holiness Church Georgetown speaking on the topic “Is it ok for Christians to masturbate?” winning the most outstanding speech. Joy Mayers of the Streams of Power Church Sion Hill won two awards for Most Outstanding Bible Boxer and Spirit of the Festival.

The winners received trophies and prizes compliments: the SVG Gospel Fest Committee, Premier Distributors, Sprott’s Distributors, Randy’s Supermarket, Korean Divine Designs and JG and Sons Ltd.

The SVG Bible Festival, introduced in 2009, was held under the theme “Wisdom through the Word of God”. The festival was developed by the SVG Gospel Fest Committee to promote increased knowledge and a much greater understanding of the Bible, as well as to increase the frequency, variety and quality of Christian activities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
