UWI Independence Lecture, October 18 – Methodist Church Hall
The Annual Independence Lecture hosted by The University of the West Indies Open Campus, and co-sponsored by the CIBC First Caribbean Bank International, will take place on Tuesday, October 18,{{more}} at the Methodist Church Hall and Community Building from 7:00 pm.
Renowned Barbadian and Caribbean novelist and poet George Lamming will deliver the lecture on the topic âRethinking Perspectives on Independenceâ.
Lamming is one of the Caribbeanâs leading writers and intellectuals, having written several novels and other works of non-fiction. Among his novels are âIn the Castle of My Skinâ, âOf Age and Innocence.â, and âNatives of my Personâ. He has served as Writer-In-Residence, at leading Universities throughout the world, including the University of the West Indies.
The general public is invited to attend the lecture. Patrons are requestd to be seated by 6:45 pm.
