Steele leaves LIME SVG for new position in Grenada

LIME has announced that St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ General Manager Angus Steele will leave the business at the end of July to take up a new position in Grenada as that country’s General Manager,{{more}} after completing a tenure of three years and eight months in the St Vincent and the Grenadines business unit.

Steele, a Grenadian national, started working with Cable and Wireless, now LIME, 20 years ago, as a Trainee Switch Technician. He worked his way up through the ranks and was appointed Chief Executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines business unit in December 2007.

During his tenure at the helm, Angus led the way in enhancing key stakeholder relationships including, but not limited to, the Government, National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC), the police and FIU and the Commercial Technical and Allied Workers Union (CTAWU). He was also instrumental in spearheading many programs which supported and enhanced the development of education, technology and culture in St.Vincent and the Grenadines; Our new NGN platform, Renewal of Carnival sponsorship, Introduction of the best student after remediation award in the CSEC/CXC awards, donation of $500,000 towards flood victims in Georgetown and the USF projects, just to name a few.

Steele was big on community partnership, and on arrival set out to ensure LIME was grounded in this regard. In November 2007, with shovel and boots in hand, he started this journey in Bottom town with a beach cleanup, done in conjunction with the residents of that community. He also played a pivotal role in transitioning the brand from Cable and Wireless to LIME in ensuring that LIME was seen as a household name and a brand that appealed to every sector of the Vincentian society. He was also passionate about making the LIME brand visible far and wide as he sought hard to keep the Diaspora agenda alive where he supported Vincentian activities aboard such as the “Thousand Island Picnic” in Canada and “Labor Day Festivities” in New York, which are now annual features in his calendar.

We cannot forget the role he played in cementing the sponsorship between LIME and the Soca Dans, making it his personal mission to ensure that these upcoming Soca giants receive maximum exposure through their performances at national festivals regionally and internationally, most recently in Dominica and Grenada.

One of his favorite themes, which he often echoed regularly on his many visits to the radio stations for LIME’s daily half hour segments was “LIME delivers real value every time!”

In informing his colleagues in St. Vincent and the Grenadines about his new appointment, Steele said: “This journey has been a rewarding one for my own development and for the ongoing development of the business. Our business is a great business and we must continue to offer excellent service to customers to make their lives better especially in the current financial crisis.

He added: “My desire to see this business succeed remains intact, solid and no different today than any day since my arrival here, and will be no different on any day leading up to July 31st. So please do not expect any change of direction, messages or otherwise as we continue to grow our revenues, satisfy and exceed our customers’ expectations.

“This is our business to manage, grow and succeed, and I have no doubt that you will continue to play your part up to my last day and every day thereafter supporting my replacement as LIME continues to make this a better place for our customers, colleagues and the communities we serve.”

In thanking Steele for his years of committed service, Managing Director Windward Islands, Lawrence McNaughton, said: “On behalf of LIME I would like to thank Angus for his many years of service to the St.Vincent Business and I know he will continue to do well in his new appointment to the Grenadian business unit.”

The process of recruiting a new Country Manager will begin shortly and all the various stakeholders will be informed over the coming days and weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
