New addition to Vincy nightlife

Today, Vincentians will be able to make an addition to their list of options when contemplating the entertainment and leisure scene.{{more}}

Swallow Entertainment Centre will open its doors to customers from 7pm, where they can enjoy tasty food, refreshing drinks, and party to the sounds of popular deejays.

The establishment is located in Villa, and previously housed Diana’s Jerk Centre and – before that – Club 40/40.

When asked about the rationale behind the name, owner Nick Farndon said that customers will be coming to ‘swallow’ the entertainment on offer.

“You swallow your food and your drink,” he smiled. “You swallow the entertainment down!”

Farndon encouraged patrons to come out in support of his new venture, and explained his vision for the business.

He said that it will not just be a night club, but also a place where the entire family can come to have fun on various days.

He lamented the fact that there are not many places that families can go together to socialise – especially on Sundays, when it’s considered a ‘family’ day.

“There’s nothing to do on a Sunday,” he pointed out.

“Children can be here on a bouncing castle while mum and dad have a meal.”

He plans to introduce a fast food service, bouncing castles (for children) on Sundays, Country and Western themed evenings, and bring in regional comedians from time to time – among other things.

Farndon also said that for tonight’s opening, there will be drinks specials for Bailey’s Irish Cream and Hairoun Beer. Every customer will receive one free welcome drink (rum punch), and DJ Ruffy and Nu Koncept are scheduled to perform.

An electrical engineer by trade, Farndon is a UK national who first moved to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2002.

Despite returning to the UK in 2005, the lure of SVG’s shores proved too strong, and he came back in 2009 – and has been living her ever since.

He also runs a specialist roofing and general contracting company.
