SVG Non State Actors Panel gets funding for 3 year project
The SVG Non State Actors Panel, a panel of civil society organisations which was set up in 2008, has recently been granted funding to undertake a 3 year capacity building project{{more}} of Civil society organisations/Non State Actors here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The panel consists of SVG Fair Trade Organization, SVG Credit Union League, SVG Planned Parenthood Association, SVG National Trust, SVG Hotel and Tourism Association, National Youth Council, National Council of Women, National Labour Congress, Projects Promotions Ltd. and Vinsave. On Monday, July 18, the Panel met at their Office which is housed at Projects Promotions at Murrays Road. The project will be coordinated by Angella âIdeishaâ Jackson.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the social and economic development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The project purpose is to strengthen the institutional capacity of Non-State Actors so that they can effectively partner in the national development process.
Some of the activities to be implemented under this programme include: an awareness and registration programme for the NSAs; the development of a strategic plan and action plan for the NSAs; to facilitate dialogue on the role and expectations of each NSA; the establishment of a national NSA platform and NSA Advisory Panel Secretariat.
As part of the project, a comprehensive database of civil society organisations will be undertaken. Organizations are, therefore, invited to register with the secretariat, by calling 496-4621 or email svgnonstateactors@gmail.com.
