The ceremony, entitled âBack to Our Rootsâ, will feature a Parish Mass at St Paulâs Anglican Church, Calliaqua, at 8:00 am, at which there will be a Procession of Nations. As many national entities as are to be found in our national space will participate in this event by parading their national flags up the aisle of the Church to be received by the Parish Rector Canon Otis Nichols. The flags will then be taken by acolytes to the arc of the Sanctuary where they will join the national flag and the flag of the Parish. Each flag will be accompanied by Nationals or Representatives. The Flag Party, as well as members of the congregation, will be attired in National Dress/Colours or Traditional Wear.
In the afternoon, the focus of attention will shift to the Parish Hall where a festive atmosphere will permit fellowship and cultural exchange among the different nations of the Caribbean and beyond to the rest of the world. The afternoonâs ceremony, dubbed âThe Foods of the Nationsâ, will begin at 4:00 pm and will have on display the typical dishes of the participating nations. Those attending will be able to sample the tasty national dishes and enjoy as well selections of the iconic music of the nations around us. There will also be an Art Exhibition and other cultural features that will permit an understanding of peoples of different lands and cultures.
The Rector, the Parish Church Council, and the congregations of St. Paulâs and St. Johnâs invite the general public to join them in these celebrations as they uphold the Family as the bedrock of the society and celebrate their glorious past and contemplate an exciting future in the age of science and technology.
