Eight Vincentians off to study in Venezuela

Eight Vincentians leave the state today for Venezuela to pursue undergraduate studies in five disciplines.{{more}} The group of seven females and one male, will pursue studies in the fields of agriculture, information technology, medicine, nursing and tourism.

Venezuelan Ambassador to St. Vincent and the Grenadines H.E. Yoel Perez Marcano, at a press conference at the Venezuelan Embassy on Thursday, July 14, 2011, said he is happy that the students are leaving to pursue their studies. He said more than forty Vincentian students have studied at universities in Venezuela with excellent results and he expects this group will fulfill their goals in their various fields.

The Ambassador said this is one of the best groups that is being sent off to Venezuela; he is anticipating that they will be incorporated into the local workforce on completion of their studies. The prospective students were prepared for the reality of life in Venezuela, learning the language and their responsibility to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Ambassador said.

Meanwhile, Traning Officer at Service Commissions Department Myccle Burke said the partnership between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and St. Vincent and the Grenadines is bearing fruit. He added that upon completion of their studies, this group would be at the pinnacle of development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He expressed gratitude to the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the assistance by way of scholarships.

Persons interested in applying for Venezuelan Scholarships should seek further information from the Service Commissions Department and/or the Venezuelan Embassy. The deadline has been extended to July 30, 2011.
