Jackson represents SVG at African Descendant Forum
Angella âIdeishaâ Jackson represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines in a recently concluded Forum of the African Descendant in Our America,{{more}} (IV) a Meeting of African Descendants and the Revolutionary transformations in America and the Caribbean. The meeting was held in Caracas Venezuela from June 19 to 22, 2011.
Jackson, the lone representative of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, presented on the topic âToward a permanent forum of the social Afro-descendant movements ASA-ALBA.â
The conference was held at the Hotel Alba in Caracas, with vibrant and thought provoking discussions on varied topics relating to Africa and people of African descent. At the end of the three-day session, a proclamation was developed highlighting the most important aspects of the conference.
The need for a vibrant and active Social Movement or Civil Society was emphasized and the significance of programs to help bring our people, who all have a common origin and goal was also noted.
Jacksonâs participation was made possible by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in SVG and The National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Other countries that participated included Argentina, Barbados, France, Ghana, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago and United States of America among others.
