CAP 2011 was launched on July 7 at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School under the theme âLearning with fun, growing with careâ with the sub theme being âBe kind to your environment.â
The Programme, which specifically targets children from the low end of the socio-economic scale whose academic performances have fallen below desired standards, is this year being funded by the Republic of Chinda on Taiwan.
Minister of Social Development Frederick Stephenson said CAP is one of the ministryâs programmes geared at social transformation. He remarked that the programme is very important because it is one of the Governmentâs programmes geared at reducing poverty in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Stephenson said the Ministry is confident that the CAP programme this year will be a success especially if everyone plays their role effectively and efficiently. He urged the facilitators and coordinators to work diligently with the Ministry.
The CAP programme this year will focus on two main components, studentâs vacation course and the behaviour modification course.
Fifity-seven primary schools will be participating in this yearâs Children against Poverty Programme at twenty-two centres and two behavior modification centers located throughout the country. (API)
