Bird, Players take top spots in King and Queen of the Bands

The Mas bands Guiness/Y De Lima/Hitz FM Blondie Bird and Friends and SVG Players International took the top spots in this year’s King and Queen of the Bands competition at the Dimanche Gras show early Monday morning.{{more}}

Portraying ‘Eruption: Out of the Ashes’, Ricardo Adams placed ahead of Andrew ‘Guy’ Sutherland of KFC/Heineken Dragons with ‘Travels of Marco Polo’.

Veteran Gordan ‘Taya’ Boucher rounded up the top three, portraying Melbourne Artisans’ ‘Suleiman the Magnificent’.

Jenilee Glasgow took the top spot in the Queen category with Players’ ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.

Last year’s winner of the Queen of the Bands, Blondie Bird and Friends, had to settle for the second spot with Semone Richardson portraying ‘Avalanche’.

There was a tie for the third spot with Owen Ralph and the Professionals’ ‘Queen of the Circus’ portrayed by Monica O’Garro and Petra Pompey and Aunt Jobe Market/Metrocint General Insurance Co High Voltage Mas Band with their presentation ‘Love’.
