Reverend Israel appointed Archdeacon of Brooklyn
The Reverend Carver W.E. Israel has been appointed the Archdeacon of Brooklyn in the Diocese of Long Island, New York.{{more}}
Archdeacon Israel, a Vincentian, is the Rector of St. Philipâs Anglican Church at 334 MacDonough Street in Brooklyn, New York.
The announcement was made on June 24 by the Right Reverend Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of Long Island. Israel was one of four new Archdeacons named by the Bishop for the Archdeaconries of Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk.
Archdeacon Israel, originally from Stoney Ground, Kingstown, was ordained Deacon here in St. Vincent in May 1983, and to the priesthood in December, 1984. He is married to the former Suzette Munroe of Cane Garden, and together they have three children.
He began serving as Rector of St. Philipâs on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2007. Prior to serving in New York, Father Israel served parishes in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Memphis, Tennessee; Camden, New Jersey and the Caribbean.
