Miller – Stop selling alcoholic beverages to children

Police Commissioner Keith Miller is pleading with vendors to desist from selling alcoholic beverages to children.{{more}}

Miller made the call on Monday, June 27, at a press briefing at the Central Police Station’s conference room.

Miller told reporters that he is disappointed that some persons are coming into Kingstown and are not complying with the rules laid down by the police.

Miller said it is the understanding of police that on Friday, June 24, a number of young females were at Heritage Square consuming alcohol, which may have caused a number of fights.

Miller further noted that they are investigating whether any of these young females, who have children, left their young ones at home just to come to Kingstown.

“That creates an offence if their child or children is left unattended and they are in Kingstown having fun…,” Miller said.

He remarked that in the past, they have arrested young women for such behavior and if that is the case now, the police will be taking action.

“With the ages of these young girls, I thought it was an opportune time for vendors to ask young females about their age… I want vendors to be very cautious and refrain from selling alcohol to these young females. What we saw on Friday night is very inappropriate,” Miller highlighted.(KW)
