Allison Smith-Sampson, manager of Premier Distributors, speaking at the prize giving ceremony after the walk which took place on Monday, June 13, hinted that the event may take place next year or even sooner, due to the overwhelming response that it received from walkers.

More than 200 walkers of all ages and size turned out for the trek, which began at the Calliaqua Playing Field, made its way through Villa/ Fountain, down the Vigie Highway, Arnos Vale, Villa, and back to the playing field.

At the end of the event, no participant left empty handed and unsatisfied, as walkers were treated to an aerobic warm down work out, breakfast, and a wide variety of fruits and snacks, along with medals for the first three finishers in various categories.

This included the youngest and oldest participants, top male and female adults and children and first family.

Smith- Sampson in addressing the participants, thanked them for answering the call of walking for charity, and thanked other corporate sponsors who made the walk successful; these included Mountain Top Spring Water, Sprotts Distributors, etc.

She said that the response to the event had encouraged the local distributors of Bermudez and Holiday Snacks products to have the event in the not too distant future.

Less than one month ago, Premier Distributors handed over to this country’s government a cheque valued more than $24,000, which was collected from the sale of Crix crackers.

Proceeds from this Monday’s walk will also be donated to the Georgetown aid relief.(JJ)
