This championship is a competition among the students of Grades Three, Four and Five. It consists of two rounds: the Preliminary and Final Round. The Preliminary Round is already completed and students are preparing themselves for the Final round which will take place on Thursday, June 16, at 1:30 p.m., at the School.

This championship is the brain child of Spanish teacher Gloria Williams, and it has gained the encouragement and sanction of the school’s Principal, Sr. Ivy Pacheco. Its main objectives are : to showcase the students’ proficiency with general aspects of the language, and to establish their command of the spoken form, primarily as it pertains to what is taught in class and what is learnt incidentally.

Forty-two students took part in the preliminary Round and 17 will participate in the Final Round.

In the Preliminary Round, each student was tested in four categories: “Vocabulary”; “Show and Tell”; “Prepared Reading Passage”; and “Myself”.

In the Final Round, these same categories will be tested, along with an additional “Impromptu Reading Passage” and questions being posed in the “Myself” segment.

Prizes and trophies are expected to be handed out to those students who would have excelled in the competition, and certificates will be given to all participants. The school intends to make this an annual event.
