At the recent launch of the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG), the prime minister praised the young employees for their enthusiasm toward their jobs, and to believe in themselves.
He added: âWhile you improve your skill, we have to make sure tertiary education does not spoil your attitude.â
Gonsalves said that some young persons
who return from overseas study bring back an undesired work ethos with them.
âThey have accomplished their goal in life. Afterwards, all of us must work to pay them to go to an office and do very little!â he noted.
âWe canât allow university education to undermine our work discipline. We have to have the greater skill, and that… must help us to provide an even better and more productive attitude. Iâd like to see that inside the bank and throughout the country.â
In opening remarks, Derry Williams, BOSVG managing director, said that one of the bankâs pressing aims is staff development.
He said that it is vital to provide staff members with the training and exposure that is required for them to make the transition from old ownership to the new.
